Carnaval II
Designed to spice up the executive conference room in the corporate offices of a Detroit-based international business. The CEO commissioned April to create an artwork that would hang alongside a collection of beloved woodcut prints from the company’s Lithuanian branch. The design challenge was to find a way for the glass to share prominence on the wall with the bold prints. The client asked April to use the same colors that were in the woodcuts so the artworks would complement each other.
April created hand-blown glass pieces with line quality that mimicked the carvings of the woodcuts. Interpreting the color palette through both transparent and opaque glass, April designed a composition that danced around the prints and enlivened the wall.
